Samuel Ross, designer extraordinaire and founder of A-COLD-WALL*, takes his minimalism and brutalism inspired styling to American staple Converse with a duo of winter-ready collaborative sneakers. The first pair is Ross’ take on the Chuck Taylor All-Star Rugged, a shoe that already developed upon the iconic rubber-soled shoe’s DNA with a modern sensibility while the other a premium upgrade on the Converse ERX. The duo will release via A-COLD-WALL*’s website on September 14th followed by a wider release at converse.com and select retailers on September 17th.
The ACW x Converse All-Star Rugged features an upper made up of light grey rip-stop and an extended lacing system that wraps around the ankle. The key component of the shoe/boot-hybrid however is the cement gray, rugged lug outsole that seamlessly upwards into an exterior shell that surrounds the perimeter of the shoe. ACW branding is tastefully engraved across the lateral side of the shoe while Converse’s iconic All-Star logo is embossed on the medial side. The ACW x Converse ERX applies a premium leather mudguard at the forefoot and different textures of grey suede panneling for the toebox, tongue, and heel with Converse and ACW branding added throughout. All these details sit atop a semi-translucent rubber midsole for a modern look.
