Adidas is teaming up with metro Detroit-based streetwear institution Puffer Reds to unveil the Puffer Reds Track 45 adistar, inspired by the retailer’s rich musical heritage and multi-generational cultural impact.

Opened in 1979, Puffer Reds has evolved from a haven to top fashion hub for the style-savvy shopper. Adidas’ core values embody the spirit of Puffer Reds: staying true to the culture, setting trends through innovation, and building a community that uplifts and inspires. Puffer Reds strive to honor these principles in everything they do, from the way we curate our collections to how we engage with the people who walk through our doors.

In a campaign teasing the collaboration, founder Eric Williams reflects on Puffer Reds’ journey. From welcoming the likes of Biggie Smalls, Master P, and even Aaliyah, to providing Michiganders with the latest in music and fashion- Puffer Reds has been a hub for culture. That hub is celebrated with adidas’ latest project- a Puffer Reds Track 45 adistar.

Evoking the brand’s heritage as one of Detroit’s most renowned record shops, the Puffer Reds adistar arrives with vinyl finishes, a red and granite upper that symbolizes the shop’s Wall of Fame, and vintage audio motifs on the sockliner. The details aren’t spared here, as the 313 and 734 area codes on the heel and a “Detroit” etched into the sole in Lions blue highlight Puffer Reds’ regional pride.

“This collaboration honors our history and evolution while spotlighting the community that continues to inspire us,” said James Berry of Puffer Reds. “We are all about community at Puffer Reds, and are proud to have had adidas’ support from the start of our journey through now.”

To elevate the launch, Puffer Reds will transform the store into a real-life time capsule featuring legacy artifacts on display. This exhibition experience charts an immersive path through the eras that shaped Puffer Reds history, offering an intimate look into the adistar’s inspiration.

Celebrations will culminate in an evening launch party at Diamondback Music Hall hosted in partnership with adidas Cornerstone Community, featuring live performances from notable local talent—a nod to Puffer Reds’ roots in Detroit’s music scene and its commitment to championing homegrown artists.

The adidas x Puffer Reds adistar will be available on August 28 at both Puffer Reds, and online at pufferreds.com for $150. Each pair purchased on launch day will also include a ticket to the launch celebration at Diamondback Music Hall.

Sole Savy is unreal! With a busy schedule it’s hard to keep up on shoes, and the group keeps me up to date on releases, tips on how to manually cop, and a marketplace with killer deals from fellow like minded collectors. It’s changed the sneaker game for me!

@SoleSavy is the truth. They've helped me cop kicks I never would've imagined getting at retail. Members always willing to assist on drops too. And most of all, a REAL community of REAL sneakerheads. These guys should be the gold standard for sneaker communities! #LifetimeMember

My membership paid for itself three fold by being solely responsible for my union 4’s, mesh sacai waffles, sacai blazers, court purple aj1s, glow in the dark yeezy 350s, travis scott lows (which I traded to get desert ore ow’s), air max 1 londons, bc3’s for way under retail etc.

Can't say enough about SS. The stellar help with copping shoes is a given but it's the community that makes it extra special. Hands down one of the best decisions I made as a wannabe sneakerhead.

The community of sneakerheads and resources available to help manually cop are great and really will help you get more Ws. The Zoom calls for hyped drops like Union Jordan 4 only adds to the camaraderie while providing real time instruction
