This weeks Air Jordan 1 85 “Varsity Red” release is going to be a very basic one. A few stores will get them and all do raffles. I believe the only retail releases are at Jumpman LA and Chicago. Jumpman Toronto will NOT get them. I expect there to be minimal online FCFS drops (or none) which leaves us with…SNKRS: From my knowledge of in-store stock and the fact SNKRS is not a draw, it leads me to believe the SNKRS stock is really high. High enough they didn’t want to leave it up to a draw….
It is totally possible that US SNKRS has 15,000 of the 23,000 pairs made going up in that one region. This would be good stock for a single drop in one spot. Other SNKRS regions are doings draws for example.
I’ll keep an eye on this all week but for now I would fire up your Nike and SNKRS apps and look around, interact, like stuff, etc. Get the engagement up in your app as it can’t hurt.
Nike Forecasts
FYI: Nike has internal forecasts for heat and demand, they use this math/ratio to determine how to handle releases and allocate stock. I would imagine when they looked at their numbers for this release that the more logical move was to do LEO on SNKRS US. I’m not going to speculate too much into it because I dont know for sure.
With that said, all it takes is a week of people liking and setting reminders for the drop for them to realize their forecasts were wrong and change it to a draw by Friday.
Resell Predictions
Also, for anyone feeling anxious and thinking about an early StockX cop or something….don’t do it. My expectation for resell is around $650 USD for smaller sizes and around $500 USD for larger sizes. Prices are currently double.
With all the stock in Nike’s hands that leaves very few pairs available to hit the market early and get shipped. Right now I see about 4 to 8 pairs listed for sale per size which is nothing.
23,000 pairs is not a lot but I have seen pairs numbered and limited like that (AJ1 Wings – not very good) bottom out and other pairs (AJ12 wings – dope ) hold steady but not blow up.
