In July 2021, Jordan Brand was connected with 13-year-old Jordan Carranza through Make-A-Wish®. Carranza, who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, had a wish to design a shoe that broke down barriers and selected the Air Jordan 1 Hi FlyEase.
“What inspired me to make this shoe is that Nike has always been my favorite brand, and I have always wanted to make a shoe. The reason I made a handicap style is that it shows me that just because you’re disabled doesn’t mean that your dream can’t come true,” Carranza said.
Following the design process, Jordan Brand celebrated Carranza and his vision with a “PE Watch” that’s normally reserved for the brand’s professional athletes.
But for the brand, the “PE Watch” treatment was a given since Carranza is a premier member of the Jordan Brand Family. The brand’s commitment to Purpose and the values on which the brand was built should be accessible to all – regardless of ability.
The Air Jordan 1 Hi FlyEase is made exclusively for Jordan Carranza and will not be made available for purchase.
