Through the years, the Doernbecher and Jordan Brand partnership has ushered in a new wave of storytelling. The 2022 Nike Doernbecher Freestyle collection was no different as the brand unveiled a range of silhouettes, inspired and created by the Doernbecher patients.
Members of the collection are starting to surface, pointing to a potential release soon. Michael Wilson, an 11-year-old from Daytona, Oregon, took on the Air Jordan 5 Low for his edition of the low-top silhouette. Inspired by Wilson’s love for airplanes, sharks, and mac & cheese, the Air Jordan 5 Low “Doernbecher” is filled with details. The colorway includes interchangable patches and other details such as “Take Flight” branding, rear pull tabs, his initials “MDW” on the heels, a multicolor liner, and the AJ5’s signature translucent outsole with graphics underneath.
A release date for the Air Jordan 5 Low “Doernbecher” has not been announced. However, we expect the pair to retail on SNKRS and potentially select retailers in the upcoming weeks. As always, our sneaker monitors and release day strategy will have members ready for drop day.
