The Air Jordan 7 took flight in 1992 with its original five colorways: “Bordeaux,” “Hare,” “Raptor” (referred to as “Charcoal” by some), “Olympic,” and “Cardinal.”
For the first time since Tinker Hatfield took over on the design of the Air Jordan line, Michael Jordan’s signature shoe went without a visible air unit and Nike Air branding on the heel, both served as key visual elements for the Air Jordan 3 through the Air Jordan 6.

The Air Jordan 7 included a Huarache-like neoprene inner bootie and geometric detailing on the tongue inspired by West African Tribal culture. The AJ7 included a triangle on the heel that donned “23” — except for the “Olympic” colorway, which showcased Jordan’s “9” jersey number from the 1992 Barcelona Olympics as a member of the iconic “Dream Team.”
In 2002, Jordan Brand retroed the Air Jordan 7 for the first time by bringing back the “Charcoal” colorway and introducing an all-new iteration as the “French Blue” AJ7 featured a predominantly white upper with blue, grey, and black details.
For the second time in less than half a decade, Jordan Brand again opened up the gates for an Air Jordan 7 retro as the 2006 releases witnessed the return of the “Cardinal” colorway and presented all-new takes including “Maize,” “Flint,” “Chambray,” “Pacific Blue,” and “Citrus.”

As Jordan Brand prepares the festivities for the Air Jordan 7’s 30th anniversary, the non-OG Air Jordan 7 “Citrus” colorway makes its return. Although images of the 2022 version have yet to surface, the signature black nubuck upper with vibrant yellow and red details will stay true to its 2006 predecessor.
A release date for the Air Jordan 7 “Citrus” has not been confirmed. However, the colorway is expected to release in 2022 in full-family sizing on SNKRS and select retailers. Men’s pairs will reportedly retail for $200. As always, our sneaker monitors and release day strategy will have members ready for drop day.
