Slated to release on July 18th, the upcoming Pokémon set will make history.
The upcoming Black Bolt and White Flare sets will be the first time the English TCG version of a set is split. More common in Japan, a split set occurs when two separate, though related, sets release together.

This upcoming set will bring the Pokémon TCG back to the Generation 5 region of Unova. These set releases, of course, are meant to coincide with the Pokémon Legends ZA game, expected to release later this year.
These split sets will feature unique cards for all 156 Pokémon that are part of the fifth generation. Each Pokémon from the region will receive an Illustration Rare or a Special Illustration Rare. They will also each receive reverse holos, Poke Ball holos, and Master Ball holos. Those who are good at math can tell you- that means there will be over 800 cards expected to make up parts of this set. Thoughts and prayers to the master set collectors.

Black Bolt and White Flare will introduce new “Black White rare” cards which, according to Poke Beach, will feature monochromatic black and white designs. Considered specialty sets, Black Bolt and White Flare will not release in booster boxes or individual packs. Instead, the sets will release via Elite Trainer Boxes, Binder Collections, Poster Collections, Mini tins, Booster Bundles, and more.
