CNCPTS’ grey-scale ‘Montage’ 997 is a pivot away from their previous collaborations on the 997.
The long-standing relationship between CNCPTS and New Balance has led to some iconic collaborations over the past couple of decades. This release marks a full-circle moment for CNCPTS and New Balance.
While those earlier executions leaned on tonal balance and material sophistication, the “Montage” takes an intentional turn.
Rather than echoing what made past 997 partnerships successful, CNCPTS chose to go against the grain, crafting a narrative rooted in the introduction of the model itself and the grunge ethos that defined the era of its birth.
Inspired by grunge and punk, the CNCPTS x New Balance 997 “Montage” leans into a raw, unpolished spirit. The classic silhouette was reworked into a distressed and undone finish, embodying the moody and gritty nostalgia of the 1990s.
To celebrate the newest addition to the 997 collaborations, CNCPTS and New Balance are taking over Lou’s, a vinyl lounge in Cambridge, MA, on December 10th, 2025. The night will be filled with great vibes, community, and sounds by special musical guests. RSVP required, but does not guarantee entry.
Online drawing opens on Tuesday, December 10th, at 12 PM EST for in-store pairs at CNCPTS BOS and NYC. Online pairs will be available FCFS in limited quantities on cncpts.com on Thursday, December 11th, at 10 AM EST. Pairs will retail for $220 USD.
