On the court, Devin Booker is well known for donning Nike’s Kobe series. Off the court, however, the Phoenix Suns swingman is also a big fan of the Converse Chuck 70 — and now he’s getting a pair to call his own.
Converse and Booker are teaming up for an undyed Chuck 70 that fits in well with Arizona’s deserts. This is his first collaboration under the Nike umbrella, and could very well be part of the lead-up to Booker’s rumored signature sneaker from the Swoosh proper.
The white Chuck 70 does away with the midsole’s striping and its textured toe bumper. What remains is a white vulcanized midsole that remains smooth throughout, fitting the clean aesthetic of the canvas upper. Converse branding is stitched into the lateral side monochromatically, and there are no explicit marks to denote Booker’s involvement. On the right heel, however, you will find an Arizona “Classic Car” license plate appearing raised on the midsole nodding to Booker’s love of lowriders.
Because of the minimalism, Booker’s Chuck 70 will be a “if you know, you know” sort-of wear. Booker himself is also encouraging those who pick it up to customize the shoe, as he told Sole Collector: “You can paint it. You can bleach it. This is a blank canvas—you can do whatever you want with it.”
Look out for Booker’s Chuck 70 to release April 12 through the SNKRs app and Converse’s website and April 13 at Foot Locker and select additional retailers. Pricing is set at $95. Download the DROPS by SoleSavy app to stay informed on all the latest sneaker news.
