Whether you grew up watching the classic Doraemon anime or reading the manga as a kid, you’ve undoubtedly seen the beloved namesake mascot in a variety of places including a highly successful apparel collection with Uniqlo and Takashi Murakami. Now one of the sneakers of the moment is getting its own collaboration with the iconic Japanese cartoon. Teased by skateboarder Kevin Perez via his Instagram today, a special Nike SB Dunk High Pro “Doraemon” seems to be in the works.
From the video and images shared by Perez we can see that the shoe’s colorway is made up of the Doremon character’s color scheme including bright Blue and Red as well as hints of Yellow and White. White pebbled leather adorns the toebox and side panels while bright Red laces and matching Swooshes appear on the medial and lateral sides of the shoe. To contrast, overlays are done in suede using Doraemon’s fur’s signature shade of Blue. The Yellow tongue tag and matching mid tongue lace stays are meant to replicate the golden bell on his collar. Finally, a hidden stash pocket is sewn into the back of the plush Nike SB tongue as a nod to Doraemon’s pouch from which he pulls out a variety of trinkets in the anime. While there’s no word yet on when this Japanese influenced Nike SB Dunk High Pro comes out, stay tuned to SoleSavy for future details.
