(UPDATE July 29, 2020): Online reselling platform GOAT has uploaded high-quality images of the UNION LA x Air Jordan 4 “Off Noir” colorway alongside a rumored August release for $250 USD.
Renowned hip-hop DJ and producer DJ Clark Kent took to Instagram today to give the world its first confirmed look at UNION LA’s second collaboration with Jordan Brand. The upcoming UNION LA x Air Jordan 4 pictured below is rumored to arrive during Fall/Winter 2020 and continue the multi-colored, vintage aesthetic of UNION founder Chris Gibbs’ Air Jordan 1 collaboration from 2018.
While official photos and colorway names have yet to be released, the shoe itself uses a predominantly Black upper as its base and throws all other sense of normalcy out the window from there. Sitting atop an aged-looking Sail midsole, the shoe’s overlays are all done in black suede, while the toebox is done in black mesh. White stitching provides a great contrast against this black backdrop. The wire mesh side paneling is done in bright white as well, while the lacestays are done in light grey for the bottom pair and the top pair is done in red and attached to a white translucent piece of rubber paneling across the lateral side. The ankle collar of the shoe resembles the UNION AJ1s with its off-kilter blue mesh appearing to be taken off another colorway of AJ 4s completely. The tongue is turned inside out and bent backward with the interior “Air Jordan” label facing forward in white against a red background. This flipped portion of the tongue is stitched atop a regular grey tongue underneath using UNION’s yellow embroidery found on their last Jordan collaboration.
