When Giannis Antetokounmpo, the star player of the Milwaukee Bucks, partnered up with Nike last year, the end result was the popular Nike Zoom Freak. Now, a year later, Antetokounmpo and Nike return with yet another distillation of the NBA star’s personality and personal history into an elegant product: the Nike Zoom Freak 2.
Following in a similar blueprint as the OG, the Nike Zoom Freak 2 features prominent use of Zoom Air technology through the forefoot and heel, adding extra stability and comfort both on and off the court. Design-wise, the Zoom Freak 2 has opted for a traditional Swoosh placement as opposed to the clever reverse Swooshes that originally stemmed from the heel to the lateral side. A frosted blue outsole has Antetokounmpo’s parents’ names – Charles and Veronica – etched into it, while Chinese characters reading “Greek Freak” adorn the heel. An embroidered “GA” logo in copper is featured prominently on the lateral side of the heel. While sleeker and simpler in design, the Nike Zoom Freak 2 continues the line’s combination of personal family history and a great performance sneaker for fans worldwide.
