Three years after launching the Rocket X as its elite racing sneaker, Hoka is now introducing its improved Rocket X 2.
With a focus on elite and long distance runners, the Rocket X 2 boasts a brand-new PEBA foam in the midsole, retooled carbon fiber plate, and targeted rubber on the outsole. Hoka’s PEBA foam provides more rebound than any of the brand’s previous foams and is used as part of a layered ProFlyX midsole construction. A soft top layer of foam is paired with a more responsive bottom layer to balance high energy and stability.
Beneath the two layers are zonal rubber placements on the outsole in high-traction area in a bid for durability while decreasing weight. Also tucked into the midsole is a carbon fiber plate with early stage MetaRocker tech. The Rocket X 2’s upper comes in a synthetic mesh with a dual-sided tongue gusset and an internal cage at midfoot for security. A men’s size 10 weighs just 8.3 ounces and comes with a 40mm stack and 5mm drop.
The Hoka Rocket X 2 is out now, just in time for marathon season, for $250 through Hoka’s website. Whether you’re looking for a racing shoe or something for everyday wear, download the DROPS by SoleSavy app for all the sneaker news you need.
