Issa Rae is everywhere and her influence is reaching everyone. Looking to inspire the next generation of creatives, the revolutionary actress and the One Star are teaming up for a Chuck 70 collection that draws from Rae’s creativity, expression, and dedication to her craft.
For the inaugural Issa Rae x Converse collection, Rae recruited Nicky Fulcher to take on the Chuck 70 as a part of the Converse All Stars program.
Fulcher, a first-generation Haitian American, is much like Rae herself as young, Black creatives with values rooted in the importance of self-expression, creativity, and identity. The similar beliefs and values fuel the collection as Rae and Nicky created a unique assortment of graphic phrases and color palettes that fit Rae’s unwavering vision.
“It was all about empowering the next generation to get up and do what it is they aspire to do. So the team took some of my personal affirmations and approaches to life, and put them into the design of the shoe,” Rae said.
The Issa Rae x Converse By You Chuck 70 collection will be available on Converse.com on July 1 in North America and Western Europe. As always, our sneaker monitors and release day strategy will have members prepared for release day.
