Jaylen Brown has had quite the sneaker journey since entering the NBA in 2016. After wearing Jordan Brand at Cal, he started his professional career as an adidas athlete. He followed his time with the Three Stripes with a short stint with Peak. After the comfort issues with the Chinese brand’s products, Brown opted to play in Nike Kobes. Despite his admiration for Kobe and his sneaker line, Brown made headlines for criticizing Nike’s business ethics and played multiple seasons covering the Swoosh with tape and artwork. Now, coming off his first championship, Brown has officially launched his own brand, 741. The debut silhouette has been spotted on Brown throughout the summer, and it looks like he will defend his championship this season with 741 on his feet.

Brown has been a vocal leader in the player empowerment movement and has served as Vice President of the NBA Players Association since 2019. He publicly supported Kyrie Irving during his breakup with Nike, so this move aligns with his stance over the last few seasons. He reportedly turned down multiple $50 million dollar deals from major footwear companies to launch 741. The Rover Black Moon is available for preorder in men’s ($200) and big kids’ ($70) sizing and ships in late November. Its tech specs include a translucent rubber outsole with engineered flex grooves and torsional flexibility, a Hyper Gravity Critical EVA foam midsole, an engineered net top cover, and a molded external counter with heat seal reinforcement .
