JJJJound and Adidas are back together again.
After debuting their partnership last year on the Adidas Samba, the two brands are back together. This time, it is on one of the most important sneakers of all time- The Adidas Superstar.
First debuting in 1969, the Superstar began it’s legacy as an on the court alternative. Releasing at a time when other brands pushed hard for their presence on the NBA courts, the Superstar’s leather, and shell construction, offered more support than competing sneakers at the time.
Through it’s constant evolutions, the Superstar remained in the forefront. Naturally, the sneaker’s impact began to be felt off the court. Adidas‘ presence during the infancy of Hip-Hop in the 1970s allowed the Shell Toe an opportunity to reach an audience away from the hardwood. As the style of B-boys and B-girls around the young Hip-Hop scene changed, Adidas became a brand of preference. This moment culminated in Run DMC’s hit single My Adidas. Run DMC was already renowned for their style, making the 1986 hit single the ultimate cosign for the German brand.
JJJJound is celebrating that important history with the release of their collaboration on the Superstar. The collaboration will feature the two most classic colorways of the Superstar in White/Black and Black/White- with JJJJound’s elevated spin, of course.
Further enhancing that effort to celebrate the impact of the Superstar– the upcoming JJJJound collaboration will release in two different iterations. The white colorway takes the mold and form of the Superstar 82. Meanwhile, the black colorway adopts the shape and style of the Superstar II– in efforts to celebrate the evolution of the model throughout the 1990s and beyond.
Much like with their introductory partnership, this collaboration was formed in the Adidas’ Scheinfeld factory in Germany. According to JJJJound– both pairs will feature premium leather uppers, custom vintage hang tags, and arrive in a co-branded box with JJJJound tissue paper.
JJJJound’s continuous efforts to celebrate timeless classics are felt clearly on this Adidas collaboration. Creating premium iterations of some of the most important staples is at the center of the brands ethos. When it comes to sneakers, the Shell Toe is as staple-ready as it gets.
The JJJJound x Adidas Superstar collection will release via JJJJound.com on Thursday, February 20 at 12 PM EST. The sneakers will retail for $250. You can enter the draw for the collection via Adidas CONFIRMED now.
