Today, Jordan Brand has officially unveiled the Air Jordan 40. A shoe that’s uniquely designed for the modern game and to power the performance of today’s top playmakers.

The Air Jordan 40 is built for today’s athletes and the specifics of the modern game. That approach permeates every aspect of the shoe, nodding to all that’s been accomplished in Air Jordans over the past 40 years while fueling the next wave of on-court accomplishments.

For the first time across NIKE, Inc., the Air Jordan 40 pairs full-length Nike ZoomX foam with a full Zoom Strobel, providing hoopers unparalleled responsiveness and explosive force with every movement.

ZoomX is NIKE, Inc.’s softest, lightest and most responsive foam, which delivers athletes 85 percent energy return and powers some of the greatest performances in sport. The full-length Zoom Strobel places Nike’s most responsive cushioning directly underfoot to provide the propulsion required for explosive on-court movement.

The Air Jordan 40 carries forward the iconic design legacy of the Air Jordan lineage, referencing details from prior models in a striking new look. Among those details include: the sneaker’s tongue inspired by the Air Jordan 5, the toe nods from the Air Jordan 12, and side panels reminiscent of the Air Jordan 14. Perhaps most reminiscent, though, is the Air Jordan 40’s heel clip taken from the Air Jordan 3.

In an additional nod to the four-decade history of Air Jordan footwear, the silhouette’s logo is designed entirely of 40-degree angles — a theme mirrored on the herringbone traction pattern, which also calls to mind several of the franchise’s most iconic outsole designs.

The Air Jordan 40 will launch with nine unique colorways throughout the coming year. Each pair will feature unique upper materials that advance the Air Jordan franchise into its fifth decade.

The Air Jordan 40 will be available July 12 at jordan.com and select retail locations.
