Kith founder Ronnie Fieg taps into the marketing and aesthetic practices of the early 2000s with the release of his brand’s upcoming Nike Air Force 1 Low collaboration. Fieg took to Instagram today to announce that in conjunction with the grand opening of KITH’s flagship Japan store in Tokyo, the AF 1 collaboration will be exclusively available at KITH Tokyo on July 4th. The celebrated sneaker is inspired by Nike’s CO.JP program which saw the release of limited edition colorways only available through Japanese retailers and websites.
“The Kith x Nike Air Force 1 “Tokyo” will release in-store only at Kith Tokyo this Saturday 7/4. It will never release online or at any other Kith shop. For those of you who don’t live in Tokyo, I hope you appreciate the hunt the way I did 20 years ago“, wrote Fieg in his caption today. While disappointing for those outside of Japan, this release tactic will surely elevate the KITH Air Force 1 to new levels of desirability on par to the CO.JP drops of yesterday.
KITH Tokyo opens July 4th in Miyashita Park North, 1st Floor & 2nd Floor, Store No. 10800, 6-20-10 Jingumae Shibuya-ku, Tokyo 150-0001 Japan. Check out images of the store courtesy of KITH followed by official Nike photos of the KITH AF1 below.
