In 1987, the game changed with the Air Max 1. Tinker Hatfield’s creation gave us a look at the Swoosh’s technology like never before with its Air unit window. Nearly three decades and a half later, the Air Max 1 continues to be an integral part of Nike’s yearly releases.
With the new year here and Air Max Day (March 26) a matter of months away, leaked images of upcoming Air Max 1 colorways have surfaced. Leaked documents of a Nike presentation viewed by Complex‘s Brendan Dunne previewed what the Swoosh has planned for the Air Max 1’s 35th anniversary.
Alongside the return of the Nike Air Max 1 Crepe “Hemp” colorway, Nike is releasing six new iterations of the AM1. Included in the leak was a premium Air Max 1 “Denim,” which will see a $20 increase compared to the other colorways. It’s also worth mentioning that Air Force 1s, Air Max 90s, and Air Max 97s have increased in price as well. The “Denim” iteration reportedly releases in September.
Other colorways in a non-atmos “Safari”-themed colorway, a women’s exclusive in white and yellow, and a commemorative colorway for Air Max Day that includes Air Max charms.
Release dates for the leaked Nike Air Max 1s have not been disclosed (aside from the Air Max Day pair). However, we could see Nike kick things off for the Air Max 1 on Air Max Day, or even sooner. We expect all colorways to release on SNKRS and select retailers throughout 2022. As always, our sneaker monitors and release day strategy will have members ready for drop day.
