Louis Vuitton is releasing its highly anticipated Nike Air Force 1 collection created by the late Virgil Abloh. After debuting on the runway late last summer, the Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 will be auctioned off with proceeds going to Abloh’s “Post-Modern” scholarship fund.
Starting in 2020, “Post-Modern” was created by the OFF-WHITE founder as a way to “open doors for Black creativity and keep them open for the future.” The scholarship fund would be a lifetime access to resources, mentorship, and more.
“As a Black designer, I found my way through school, and a mixture of creative projects, and I had to make a name for myself. That took a lot of years and a lot of meetings and a lot of runway shows and a lot of work, and I wanted to make that door open for a younger generation to sort of have a pathway that stays open,” Abloh told WWD in 2020
The Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 sneakers will be auctioned from January 26 to February 8 on Sotheby’s, with bids starting at $2,000 and a size range from 5 to 18, according to WWD. The pairs are made of calf leather, featuring Vuitton’s signature Monogram and Damier patterns, with natural cowhide piping.
Each pair includes a Louis Vuitton pilot case in monogram-embossed orange leather, a 3D tag in orange leather, and a white Swoosh on top. The pairs also include Abloh’s signature OFF-WHITE details such as quotation marks, hang tags, and other details.
The Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 collection, which includes 47 colorways, will release through the Louis Vuitton network in the upcoming weeks, according to WWD.
