When it comes to a brand’s presence, tunnel fits are just as important, if not more, than what’s worn on the court. As the pre-game routine has transformed into a runway, brands are partnering with the league’s most fly.
As we discussed in our 2021-2022 NBA preview, it’s hard to think of a better-dressed player than Utah Jazz’s Jordan Clarkson. Whether on the court or in the tunnel, Clarkson has a certain undeniable swagger. And Lululemon took notice.
The technical athletic clothing brand announced Clarkson as its first-ever NBA brand ambassador.
“We’re so excited to introduce our newest Lululemon Ambassador Jordan Clarkson,” the brand announced. “Jordan, Clarkson is a decorated change-maker. And his off-court presence is just as inspiring—with millions of supporters following along, he uses his NO HYPE vlog and social media presence purely to personally connect with fans. Oh, and did we mention he’s the unofficial king of the tunnel?”
Despite the Clarkson partnership being the first of its kind, this isn’t the first time that Lululemon has tried to make its way into the tunnel. There were rumbling between Jimmy Butler and his Big Face Coffee brand back in the Bubble. However, a deal was never reached. In addition to the hardwood, Lululemon has its eyes set on international glory as the brand is Team Canada’s official partner for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
This could be the beginning of Lululemon’s massive entry into the NBA with the tunnel fueling the fire. Stay tuned to SoleSavy for more on Lululemon and other industry news.
