With a collaborative version already on their way, New Balance is giving extra love to the 2002 model with a reissue of the classic runner. Now known as the New Balance 2002R, the shoe will debut the show with two versatile, grey-toned colorways.
The “R” in 2002R stands for “Racing” and the reissue makes sure to place a larger emphasis on the model’s ergonomic and stylish features. Emblazoned just below the lateral portion of the mesh ankle collar is embroidered “2002R” branding with the lettering done in hyper-stylized, red embroidery to contrast with the understated digits done in white and black. New Balance’s proprietary ABZORB + N-ergy midsoles are equipped on both colorways and serve as the base for the shoe’s suede and mesh-paneled upper. Reflective 3M piping in silver is applied on the heel, mudguard and around the sides’ “N” logos. While a release date has not been confirmed as of yet, the NB 2002R could potentially launch later this month as part of New Balance’s annual “Grey Day” celebrations.
