Paisaboys, the Los Angeles brand inspired by Mexican culture, has announced it is officially part of the Nike family. Taking to Instagram, Paisaboys kept the news simple with the Nike Swoosh bordered by a barbed wire graphic and the caption “Suenos por cumplir y bocas por caller. Familia Nike 🇲🇽.” The barbed wire graphic is commonly used in the brand’s designs and appears in its logo. The caption translates to “Dreams to fulfill and mouths to shut. Nike Family.” Founded by West LA natives Joey Barba and Javier Bandera in 2016, the brand celebrates Mexican culture and the pair’s dual-identity LA upbringing.

The term “Paisa” translates to “countryman” but has historically been used as a derogative slur towards Mexican immigrants. Through its in-house designs and collaborations with brands like Espolòn Tequila and the LA Rams, the brand has reclaimed the term to celebrate Mexican style and traditions. The brand’s website has its next drop scheduled for April 11, 2024, but it is unclear whether that is Nike-related. Stay tuned as more details on the partnership emerge.
