It is nearing 30 years since the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona wherein professional basketball players were finally allowed to represent their countries on the world stage. Not only did the USA basketball team dazzle on the hardwood they also showed some flair in the footwear department. While “His Airness” Michael Jordan stole the show, his running mate Scottie Pippen also made his mark in sneaker history during their dominant Olympic run in the Nike Air Flight Lite Mid.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the model, the team at Nike is reviving the iconic model with a colorway honoring the silhouette’s most popular advocate Scottie Pippen. The Nike Air Flight Lite Mid “Scottie Pippen” comes kitted out in a white and university red colorway with a white leather base making up most of the color blocking. University red hints flank the Swoosh, the shoe’s tongue, and outsole alongside the Nike Flight branding on the tongue and Nike Air on the heel. The splatter graphic styled inner liner draws the eye to the shoe’s insole which bears Pip’s logo.
The Nike Air Flight Lite Mid “Scottie Pippen” is set to drop soon through Nike.com and other select retailers and will retail at $120. As always, our sneaker monitors and release day strategy will have members ready for drop day.
