1991 was a pivotal year for the Swoosh. Sure, the Air Jordan 6 and the Air Command Force were seen all over with the help of his Airness and The Admiral.
Off the court, however, a new era of performance and comfort was on the rise with the creation of the ACG Air Mowabb and the Nike Air Huarache. Both utilized similar design cues, such as the implementation of neoprene, a bootie construction, and a rubber heel cage.
The Tinker Hatfield creations were distant relatives until 2007 when Nike issued the Nike Air Huarache “Mowabb” pack that reimagined the iconic ACG sneakers into Huarache form. A decade and a half from its release, the “Mowabb” pack returns.

The “Rattan Birch” colorway gets reimagined once more as the upcoming Nike Air Huarache “Mowabb” is built with the signature rattan, hyper royal, bright mandarin, and black color combination, with a speckled midsole, completing the homage. Though the shoe differs slightly from the 2007 version, the upcoming version is a collector’s must-have.
The Nike Air Huarache “Mowabb” releases on May 20 for $120 on SNKRS and select retailers soon. As always, our sneaker monitors and release day strategy will have members ready for drop day.
