Nike’s Air Max 90 is taking a lesson from a sneaker seven years its junior, as the iconic Air Max 97 “Silver Bullet” colorway makes its way to the AM 90 “Icons.”
Official images have revealed the transformation as the elder sneaker is hit with “Metallic Silver” and “University Red.” Shiny silver leather is used for the overlays, while matching mesh sits beneath. The Swoosh comes in red suede, with the color repeating on the tongue and heel branding as well as select hits of the outsole. Black then makes up the rest of the upper, as do the upper most eyelets, mustache, lining, tongue patch, and “Air Max” branding beneath the collar.
This mash-up of Air Maxes isn’t the first of its kind — in 2017, the Air Max 95 also took on the “Silver Bullet” colorway. The “Icons” name suggests the Air Max 90 could be part of a series, and if you look inside the sneaker you’ll see its own branding appear on the insole.
Release details have yet to be revealed, but you can likely expect the Air max 90 “Icons” to arrive in the coming months for $130. Download the DROPS by SoleSavy app and we’ll provide you with updates on this drop and more.
