An all new Nike Air-equipped sneaker will debut later this month in the form of the Nike Air Max ZM950 releasing August 15. While a wider release is forthcoming, the debut colorway of this new model will be a Japan exclusive collaborative version with longtime Nike partners, atmos.
Seen below in press photos from atmos as well in-foot looks courtesy of atmos founder Koji Hirofumi, the atmos x Nike Air Max ZM950 is a reinvention of the classic Air Max 95. The DNA of the AM 95 is very much still here as the shoe maintains the same curved wave patterning in its upper but does so through protruding, silver piping instead of layered materials. This piping lays atop a frosted white, semi-translucent upper that allows you to see the inner working of the shoe’s encapsulated lacestays. The heel features a Japanese flag motif as a reference to where this all new entry in Air Max history got its start. The midsole uses an exposed Air Max 270 Air unit in the heel and Zoom Air pods in the forefoot. This combination of legacy design and multiple eras of Nike cushioning technology make the ZM950 a wholly unique model.
