Mariners-Themed Nike Air Griffey Max 1 “Aquamarine” is Up at the Plate

Nike has more on the way for the legendary Air Griffey Max 1. Worn by The Kid and released in 1996, the Swoosh celebrated the shoe’s 25th anniversary with the return of the “Freshwater” and “Black Freshwater” iterations in 2021.

Though the 25th anniversary is over, Nike has more on the way.

Nike is releasing an all-wheat Air Griffey Max 1 soon. In addition to the monochromatic version, the Griffey Max 1 will also be releasing a Mariners-themed “Aqua” colorway. Inspired by Seattle’s alternate colors, the Air Griffey Max 1 features a white leather base with aqua suede overlays. The shoe’s signature black Swoosh, strap, and tongue completed with Griffey’s “24” bring the shoe together.

The Nike Air Griffey Max 1 “Aquamarine” releases on May 12 for $170 on Nike.com and select retailers soon. As always, our sneaker monitors and release day strategy will have members ready for drop day.
