Nike is bringing back a hardwood classic in 2022. The Nike Air Max Penny 1, which was first released in 1995 and returned during 2000-2001, is on its way.
The Air Max Penny 1 was Penny Hardaway’s first signature shoe. Though the Orlando Magic guard wore a handful of sneakers prior, the Air Max Penny 1 was the first shoe to grace his name. The Air Max Penny 1 was designed by the legendary Eric Avar and was built with Air Max2 cushioning in the heel and Zoom Air (then named Tensile Air) in the forefoot. The shoe also included wing-like lateral support.
The Swoosh is bringing back the Air Max 1 in 2022 in its original “Orlando” colorway. Just like the original, the upcoming retro includes the black and white upper with its signature large Phylon wing midsole in white and complemented with a blue jeweled Swoosh. The shoe’s tongue includes an embroidered Swoosh in royal blue and the heel includes the iconic 1 Cent logo.
A release date for the Nike Air Max Penny 1 “Orlando” is set for August 11. The pair is expected to retail for $170 on SNRKS and select retailers. As always, our sneaker monitors and release day strategy will have members ready for drop day.
