(UPDATE October 16th, 2020): The Off-White x Air Jordan 5 “Sail” release has been postponed to later this year. The shoe will no longer be releasing in October. Updates to come.
The wait is almost over as Virgil Abloh’s last Jordan collaboration of the year is set to drop later this month. Releasing October 24th for $225 USD, the Off-White x Air Jordan 5 “Sail”.
Just like the OG colorway from earlier this year, the OW AJ 5 “Sail” mimics the look of the original “Fire Red” AJ 5 colorway and applies a vintage veneer to it. “Nike Air” and “23” branding are hidden underneath a thin layer of ripstop material, giving the shoe a cloudy, worn-out look The soles are dyed a dark orange/yellow as if they had been sitting in the sun for years. Small cutouts appear across the lateral side of the shoe and on the tongue continuing with Abloh’s Reconstructionist design language. The upper is a delicate SAil colorway with Yellow accenting on the lace stays and side paneling. The tongue is done in reflective silver 3M material and features a cutaway.. Finally, Off-White’s Helvetica font can be found on the shoelaces and medial sides of the shoe. Take a look at the shoe and its matching shoebox below.
