Phil Knight, the legendary founder of Nike, and Los Angeles Dodgers co-owner Alan Smolinisky have expressed interest in purchasing the Portland Trail Blazers, reports ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Knight and Smolinisky have “made a $2 billion-plus written offer” to purchase the team from Paul Allen. The possibility of having Knight within the Blazers’ ownership role indicates a desire to keep the team in Portland, according to Wojnarowski.
Despite Knight and Smolinisky’s offer, the Blazers ownership responded by stating that the team is not for sale, per Wojnarowski.
Blazers statement: An offer was made by Phil Knight. The team remains not for sale.
