Mega Evolutions are finally returning to Pokémon.
The beloved mechanic was first revealed to return in the latest installment of the Pokémon Legends series: Pokémon Legend Z-A. After The Pokémon Company teased the return of the TCG earlier this year, we officially got our first look at the return today, via the announcement of the Mega Evolution set.
The branding for the Mega Evolution set is headlined by fan-favorites in Mega Lucario and Mega Gardevoir. Each Pokémon will receive an ETB- with exclusive ETB Promos featuring Riolu and Alakazam, respectively.
Much like Journey Together, the Mega Evolution set’s Booster Boxes will include a stamped box topper promo. This new set’s Booster Box promo will feature beloved Gen 1 starter, Bulbasaur.
Along with the aforementioned ETBs and Booster Boxes, the Mega Evolution set will also release in several other traditional packaging methods expected by Pokémon TCG. This includes 3-Pack Blisters, 1-Pack Blisters, Build and Battle Boxes, Booster Bundles, and Binder Collections.
According to PokeBeach, Mega Evolution will feature over 180 cards- including secret rares. The set is expected to focus on 10 Mega Evolutions, with each receiving ex cards (confirmed so far are Venusaur, Camerupt, Abomasnow, Gardevoir, Lucario, Absol, Mawile, Latias, and Kangaskhan, leaving only a Lightning-type Pokemon). Mega Evolution will also feature: more than 15 Trainer cards, 22 full art Mega Evolution Pokemon ex and Trainer cards, 22 Illustration Rare Pokemon, and 10 Special Illustration Rare Mega Evolution Pokemon ex and Supporter cards. Mega Evolution will also feature a new art style for full art Mega Evolution Pokemon ex featuring a silhouette of the regular version of that Pokemon alongside its Mega Evolution.
Pokémon TCG’s Mega Evolution set will mark the departure from the Scarlet and Violet Era. The set will mark the first block in the TCG’s latest chapter- centered around Mega Evolutions.
Mega Evolution will release on September 26th. SoleSavy Premium members get tailored notifications for launches revolving the set and other Pokémon TCG products. You can learn more about joining the community here.
