Reebok has a rich history and Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson are at the top of the list of signature athletes who made the biggest impact on the brand and culture. Now, in a continued effort to re-establish itself in team sports, Reebok has named the two Hall of Famers as President and Vice President of its basketball business. Shaq will lead the brand’s basketball category strategy and cultivate partnerships with athletes and organizations. Iverson will help drive player recruitment, grassroots and community-based initiatives.
We’ve seen plenty of brands give celebrities and beloved athletes corporate roles as PR move, but Shaq and Iverson’s combined influence, respect, and history have the potential to help Reebok regain its spot on the court and within the culture. After announcing Justin Fields would be repping the brand on the NFL field, we’ll have to wait and see who the new Reebok basketball leaders recruit on the hardwood.
