Thanks in some part to co-signs from Travis Scott and LeBron James, the Nike Mac Attack finally received its first retro over 30 years after its initial release. Designed for Tennis Hall of Famer John McEnroe, the mid-top silhouette is one of the year’s most talked about sneakers. Nike tapped The Social Status for its first-ever collaboration, and as customary from The Whitaker Group, the upcoming release comes with a message bigger than sneakers. Part 1 of a 4, the “Silver Lining” edition, comes to life in the brand’s “1st and 15th” short film series that launched with the “Paper Stamps & Silver Linings” episode. The series’ theme parallels the universal economic cycle felt across people, communities, and social classes.
The “Silver Linings” Nike Mac features White premium cracked leather and fine suede details on the upper, Silver nylon finishes on the tear-away Swoosh, and ankle collar and heel foxing that reveals a varsity chenille Red Stardust color underlay. The tongue and insole feature the Social Status x Nike special project logo alongside a list of all Social Status locations. The sneakers come packaged in a special edition bodega-inspired box, paper liner and extra shoe laces kit connecting to the story. Select boxes will receive a booklet of Social Status “Social Currency” stamps, an item unlocking a future experience as part of the Social Status x Nike Attack journey.
The first of the 4 Social Status x Nike Attack colorways will be accessible via Local Priority Access at every Whitaker Group store and a General Raffle on the Social Status website all kicking off on 7.6. The Social Status x Nike Attack “Silver Linings” will then officially launch on 7.14 online from Social Status. The footwear is priced at $140 in Adult Sizing ranging from Mens 3.5/Women’s 5 to Mens 15/Women’s 16.5. Launch dates and details for the upcoming colorways of the Social Status x Nike Attack journey will be announced at a later date.
