Something Rare is in the Air

Jordan Brand’s latest series arrives this weekend.

After teases of the sneakers appearing as part of the collection- the first pairs from the “Rare Air” series will be released this Saturday.

The “Rare Air” series will pay homage to the long sampling process sneakers go through before officially hitting shelves. Oftentimes, material, color details, and accents are changed to create a different sneaker than the one originally envisioned. Other times, mistakes, like incorrect logo placements, would lead to having to redo a sample altogether. As a result, when these “rare” samples surface online, the sneakers are sought after and coveted by sneakerheads around the world.

Jordan Brand is celebrating these mistakes with this new collection- “mistakes turned into marks of rarity and unforgettable must-haves. We call that Rare Air.”

Ushering this new collection will be a set of Air Jordan 1 High OGs.

The first, releasing in Mens, Big Kids, Little Kids, and Toddler sizing, feature a Deep Royal Blue throughout the upper. The sneaker will feature a different wings logo than the one that is usually on Air Jordan 1s. The original protoype logo, designed by Per Moore, makes an apperane on the left ankle of the Deep Royal Blue colorway. Additionally, this pair will feature a wear away swoosh that reveal a red swoosh underneath.

The second colorway from the collection will release in Women’s sizing – as well as Little Kids and Toddler sizing. This pair will feature a more prominent aged affect. The sneakers midsole, swoosh, ankle color, and even the double shoe laces give the vintage look of a sample long-left in the vault. The Cinnabar Red  details compliment the sneaker well- allowing it to pop in a way that the otherwise neutral sneaker would not. Like the Deep Royal Blue colorway, the Cinnabar Red pair features a blue tongue tag. The sneaker also features the Peter Moore Wings prototype logo- this time, though, it is on the right sneaker.

With leaks already surfaced of more Air Jordan classic models with the Rare Air monicker, it is safe to say this series will be around for the immediate future.

The Air Jordan 1 High OG “Rare Air” in “Deep Royal Blue” and “Cinnabar Red” will release this Saturday, April 5th, via SNKRS and participating Jordan Brand partners.

Sole Savy is unreal! With a busy schedule it’s hard to keep up on shoes, and the group keeps me up to date on releases, tips on how to manually cop, and a marketplace with killer deals from fellow like minded collectors. It’s changed the sneaker game for me!

@SoleSavy is the truth. They've helped me cop kicks I never would've imagined getting at retail. Members always willing to assist on drops too. And most of all, a REAL community of REAL sneakerheads. These guys should be the gold standard for sneaker communities! #LifetimeMember

My membership paid for itself three fold by being solely responsible for my union 4’s, mesh sacai waffles, sacai blazers, court purple aj1s, glow in the dark yeezy 350s, travis scott lows (which I traded to get desert ore ow’s), air max 1 londons, bc3’s for way under retail etc.

Can't say enough about SS. The stellar help with copping shoes is a given but it's the community that makes it extra special. Hands down one of the best decisions I made as a wannabe sneakerhead.

The community of sneakerheads and resources available to help manually cop are great and really will help you get more Ws. The Zoom calls for hyped drops like Union Jordan 4 only adds to the camaraderie while providing real time instruction
