Stella McCartney, adidas Create First-Ever Vegan Football Boot

The brand continued its prosperous partnership with fashion icon Stella McCartney, this time through the adidas Predator Freak. In conjunction with the help of Manchester Unitedâ€s Paul Pogba, Stella McCartney and adidas have announced the first-ever 100% vegan adidas football boot. The ideation of the vegan boot was sparked in 202o as a part of adidas†“The Huddle” series, where McCartney and Pogba first linked up.

“Since the start of my collaboration with adidas, weâ€ve continued to push the boundaries in high-fashion and performance wear, so itâ€s incredibly exciting to be expanding into the world of football with the superstar athlete Paul Pogba,” Stella McCartney said. “Creating with the planet in mind is core to the adidas by Stella McCartney partnership, and as the first adidas vegan football boot, the Predator Freak also uses part recycled materials. Working together on the design and bouncing ideas off each other was such a fun experience, and the boot perfectly fuses the world of fashion and football, showing how we can continue to create with the planet in mind.”

The culmination led to two versions: the Predator Freak P+ ($280), a laceless design with a sock-like fit; the P1 ($250), laced with a lower collar still engineered with a snug finish. The boots push the brandâ€s and McCartneyâ€s signature ethos of challenging fashion and function. The Predator Freaks are decorated with leopard print, reflective graphics, and dotted with orange DEMONSKIN rubber spikes for improved ball control and finished with an iridescent-like ombré rainbow mirror metallic plate and heel logo.

Aside from its sustainable efforts, the Predators also speak to Pogba and his love for style and playing on the pitch with an unmatched bravado. Pogba played an integral role in developing the Predator Freak from its inception, and this iteration is the epitome of his style of play embedded in self-expression and purpose.

 “I am a footballer first and foremost, but I have a huge interest in fashion and design, and Iâ€ve always wanted to explore this further,” Paul Pogba said. “This collaboration has been particularly special for me because Iâ€ve been a fan of Stella McCartneyâ€s work for a long time, so when we came together for ‘The Huddle†last year and had this idea, it felt like the perfect opportunity to create something. It was in the middle of lockdown, and I was missing playing football so much, so it was an incredible feeling to be able to focus on something that combines my love for the game with my passion for style. The boots we created with adidas are bold and unique, and I canâ€t wait to wear them when I step onto the pitch.”
