The wait is almost over for Teddy Santis’ New Balance Made in USA 990 line.
Aimé Leon Dore’s founder was named director for the Boston-based brand’s Made in USA line in April 2021. Since the announcement, speculation of what was to come from ALD’s founder at the helm of NB’s prestigious Made in USA line was anybody’s guess to make.
Santis broke the silence as Made in USA’s director by sharing a poster of all 16 upcoming New Balance Made in USA 990 colorways through his Instagram story. Santis’ New Balance Made in USA 990 line is expected to be composed of two 990v1s, seven 990v2s, and seven 990v3s. While ALD’s founder is the creative director for the line, no Aimé Leon Dore branding will be included since it’s not a collaborative collection.
Nonetheless, the pairs will receive the blessing and Midas touch from one of the figures responsible for New Balance’s momentum in mainstream sneakers and across mood board aficionados everywhere. With more creative freedom under the Made in USA director role, we anticipate the signature use of colors and a range of premium materials to add fuel to New Balance’s fire, which never ceases to dim its flames.
Respective release dates for the upcoming Made in USA 990 colorways have not been announced. However, we expect the pairs to release in the upcoming weeks on NewBalance.com and potentially at select retailers. As always, our sneaker monitors and release day strategy will have members ready for drop day.
