The return of one of the most beloved non-OG Jordan 1s is upon us.
Ten years since its original release, the Shattered Backboard Air Jordan 1 is expected to return later this Summer. After we exclusively revealed the planned return of the sneaker last year, we now have a tentative date for the iconic sneaker to return officially.
The sneaker industry was at a different place in 2015. The hype of the Air Jordan 1 was only ascending, and the almost mystical release of this sneaker allowed for a smoother climb to the top. Since it’s original release in 2015, the Shattered Backboards have released in several other iterations– including a Satin Women’s pair in 2018.

The cult-like following of this instant classic colorway allowed it to gain high-esteem when the Air Jordan 1 boom eventually arrived. At it’s peak, the sneaker fetched north of a thousand dollars in the secondary market- with the aforementioned revisited colorways not too far behind.
In 2025, that figurative bubble has long popped, but that does not mean the return of the Shattered Backboard Air Jordan 1 is unwelcome.
Acclaimed for it’s use premium materials- the 2025 rendition of the Shattered Backboard Air Jordan 1 will look very similar to that pair that released in 2015. You will be able to confirm for yourself, or really learn what “Shattered Backboard leather” feels like for yourself when the sneaker returns this summer.
The Air Jordan 1 ‘Shattered Backboard’ is slated to return on July 12th via SNKRS and Jordan Brand partners globally.
