2024 is set to be a big year for the newly relaunched Nike Kobe line. After two coveted drops to close 2023, the first releases of the new year are rumored to arrive at the perfect time to celebrate a milestone in the Mamba’s legacy. On February 8th (2-8-24), the Los Angeles Lakers will be unveiling a Kobe Bryant statue in front of the Crypto.com arena.

Never one to miss a moment, Nike is rumored to be releasing two colorways of the Kobe 8 Protro on the same date. The “Radiant Emerald” and “Court Purple” colorways feature a numerical triple entendre that reads both of Kobe’s numbers (8-24) at first glance. Upon closer inspection, you’ll notice the all-over print designs allow the numbers to also pay homage to his late daughter Gigi’s number (2) and the date of statue unveiling and presumed sneaker release date (2-8-24).
