After the official unveiling of Virgil Abloh’s Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 collection, a select number of pairs hit the Sotheby’s auction house for a two-week window. All proceeds from the auction would go towards the “Post Modern” Scholarship Fund, which Abloh launched in 2020 with an initial endowment of $1 million.
The auction, which contained only 200 pairs of the Air Force 1 with LV’s signature monogram pattern, began at a bidding price of $2,000. As expected, the coveted Abloh creation soon skyrocketed.
Officially closed on February 9, the highest bid size was $352,800 for a size 5, which includes the pilot case with the embossed LV logos and other luxurious details. In total, the auction raised around $25.3 million through the 200 pairs.
The Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 collection will see a wider release. However, it’s highly unlikely these pairs will be made available to the general public, much like the Dior x Air Jordan 1 collection from 2020.
