Foot Locker is making waves in the industry as the big-box retailer looks to expand its presence both on home soil and abroad. Foot Locker acquired Japanese chain atmos ($360M) and California-based WSS ($750M), as originally reported by Yahoo! Finance.
The acquisition is moved by FL’s desire to “inspire and empower youth culture” through global staples like atmos and neighborhood accessible WSS, which has a strong presence within the Hispanic population in the Southwest. atmos did $175 million in revenue in FY2020 while WSS did $425 million in revenue.
Foot Locker shared its reasons for purchasing both franchises with reach, growth, and physical presence being a commonality for both purchases. Both companies will continue to operate under the same names.
Stay tuned to SoleSavy as we wait to see what’s to come from the addition of atmos and WSS to the brand’s portfolio.
