Gentry Humphrey is set to step away from Nike, Inc. after a legacy like no other. Starting his career with the Swoosh in 1994, Humphrey then grew within the company, which eventually lead him to his current role as Jordan Brand’s Vice President of Footwear.
Throughout the nearly three decades of work, Humphrey spearheaded and approved some of the brand’s most coveted projects and paved the way for Jordan Brand to become the pop-cultural icon it is now. With the Air Jordan 6 and Air Jordan 11 “DMP” collection to the UNDFTD x Air Jordan 4 collab, Humphrey took the brand to new heights.
Humphrey would step away from the Jumpman for a brief stint as he worked within the Nike Sportswear and Nike Golf divisions from 2010 to 2015 before returning to Jordan Brand in 2018.
According to a company email, Humphrey will step down from his role on September 30 and will be succeeded by Kris Wright on October 1. Wright has been with Nike, Inc. since 2011, per his LinkedIn. Wright led the team that designed, developed, and launched Virgil’s “The Ten” collection, the React Element 87, and more, according to his LinkedIn.
Prior to his work with Nike, Wright was a member of Reebok from 2000 to 2004 and helped with RBK Music’s projects with G-Unit, and Jay-Z, according to his LinkedIn.
