adidas continues its commitment to sustainability with its latest “Choose to Give Back” announcement.

The Three Stripes recently unveiled the launch of a pop-up shop for one day only in New York City, focused on sustainable fashion. The pop-up will open on December 11 and includes a range of one-of-a-kind, vintage, and upcycled collections from some of the leading voices in sustainable fashion, including Theophilio, Ji Won Choi, Basketcase Gallery, Eva Joan Repair, Frankie Collective, Beepy Bella, and Tyranny & Mutation.

The pop-up is aimed to motivate consumers to dispose of clothing and other goods properly they no longer need as all pieces on display at the pop-up shop will be available for purchase not in dollars but for weight in worn goods.

“Clothing waste is a mounting problem, but facing it head-on and shifting towards a circular future will be our solution. At adidas, we see it as our responsibility to bring our consumers along on the journey and create awareness of how purchase choices – from opting for an upcycled shoe to donating end-of-life clothing – can make a huge impact,” said Katja Schreiber, adidas SVP of Sustainability. “We’re excited to bring this activation to life to show consumers that there can be a different, more sustainable model for fashion.”

Consumers will have to clean up their closets and trade in the associated weight in used clothing, shoes, or gear for points to purchase an item. For each half-pound of textile waste turned in, guests will be credited with one point, which they can then put towards pieces from the various collections. Pricing will be determined by item type and availability, starting at 2 points and maxing out at 15. Pricing is as follows:

  • Vintage Tees, Hoodies and Crewnecks: 2-10 points
  • Vintage Sweatpants and Skirts: 3-7 points
  • One-Of-One Accessories and Shoes: 5-10 points
  • One-Of-One Tees, Hoodies and Crewnecks: 7-10 points
  • One-Of-One Sweatpants and Skirts: 10-12 points
  • One-Of-One Tracksuits and Dresses: 15 points

A dollar value for any items not redeemed at the pop-up will be credited to consumers via the adidas Creator’s Club app, redeemable at the NYC 5th Avenue flagship. In addition, local, NYC-based Creator Club members at the Icon level will have the opportunity to RSVP for exclusive access to this event.

“Sustainability is instrumental in how we produce our pieces, so we are thrilled to be developing a bespoke collection made entirely of upcycled product from a brand that shares in our values,” said Theophilio designer and 2021 CFDA emerging designer winner Edvin Thompson.

The pop-up takes place at 61 Crosby Street in New York City on December 11 from noon to 7 p.m.

Sole Savy is unreal! With a busy schedule it’s hard to keep up on shoes, and the group keeps me up to date on releases, tips on how to manually cop, and a marketplace with killer deals from fellow like minded collectors. It’s changed the sneaker game for me!

@SoleSavy is the truth. They've helped me cop kicks I never would've imagined getting at retail. Members always willing to assist on drops too. And most of all, a REAL community of REAL sneakerheads. These guys should be the gold standard for sneaker communities! #LifetimeMember

My membership paid for itself three fold by being solely responsible for my union 4’s, mesh sacai waffles, sacai blazers, court purple aj1s, glow in the dark yeezy 350s, travis scott lows (which I traded to get desert ore ow’s), air max 1 londons, bc3’s for way under retail etc.

Can't say enough about SS. The stellar help with copping shoes is a given but it's the community that makes it extra special. Hands down one of the best decisions I made as a wannabe sneakerhead.

The community of sneakerheads and resources available to help manually cop are great and really will help you get more Ws. The Zoom calls for hyped drops like Union Jordan 4 only adds to the camaraderie while providing real time instruction
