Russell Westbrook and Jordan Brand have unveiled the newest chapter for the explosive guard.

The Jordan Why Not? .5, debuted during the Christmas Day matchup against the Brooklyn Nets, propels Westbrook’s speed with a data-informed traction pad, updated cushioning, and a full-foot system that locks him in and gives him ultimate control.

Built with a rugged look with a trail-running shoe inspiration, the Why Not? .5 continues design elements from previous models that blend purpose and premium materials. The shoe includes a large-volume Zoom Air unit in the forefoot for energy return, helping Westbrook and his explosive bursts of speed. Other technical details include midfoot bands for a locked-down fit, an external heel counter, and a TPU heel piece, inspired by the Nike Huarache.

The Why Not? .5 still contains storytelling elements in its design that reflect the fifth shoe in Westbrook’s line with five eye-catching shapes on the shoe’s toe cap. The upper includes translucent lightweight materials that support while still keeping the shoe light and breathable. Beyond functionality, the translucent materials represent who Russ is as a person: transparent.

The upcoming Jordan Why Not? .5 “Inner City” is in partnership with Westbrook’s Honor the Gift, his clothing brand that expresses strength, focus, and leadership. Like Jordan Brand, it was founded on self-belief and dedication to never stop working toward greatness no matter the hardship. The “Inner City” colorway celebrates where Westbrook came from and is a testament to where anyone can take themselves.

The release of the “Inner City” Why Not? .5 will release alongside an apparel collection that includes a patch, label, and embroidery detail, capturing the style and essence of Russell’s experiences.

The Jordan Why Not? .5 “Inner City” releases in Spring 2022 on SNKRS and select retailers. As always, our sneaker monitors and release day strategy will have members ready for drop day.
