Kanye West is making footwear headlines again, but not with adidas (this time).
On January 21, DJ Khaled and Kanye West were in the booth, per Khaled’s Instagram. Marcus Jordan, son of Michael Jordan and founder of Trophy Room (which has a handful of Jordan Brand collabs under its belt), commented, “[l]et’s make THAT convo happen,” followed by tags of Khaled’s and West’s handles, a series of emojis, and capped off with “AND NEW CONVOS,” and more emojis.
After the dust settled, Kanye West posted a picture of a black background with the Jumpman logo in white, with the second image slide featuring Nice Kicks‘ tweet, relaying Marcus’ message to DJ Khaled and Kanye West. In typical Kanye fashion, the only message relayed was the “eyes” emoji. Could a collab be on the way? West left Nike in 2013 and joined adidas in 2016 and has both publicly praised Nike while also flexing the omnipotence of the Yeezy line.
As of now, there’s no indication of a Kanye West x Jordan Brand collab, nor a meeting among Kanye, Marcus, DJ Khaled, and Michael Jordan himself. However, anything is possible — especially if Kanye is involved.
Stay tuned to SoleSavy as the potential collab and meeting develop.
