Community Spotlight : Aaron Roth

The SoleSavy Community is full of sneakerheads from all different walks of life. Individuals who all have different stories and are brought together by their love of sneakers. The community is filled with individuals like Aaron Roth, a media teacher from California. “Mr Roth,” as the kids call him, has been with us since 2020, and has always been a positive voice not just in our platform but in his local community as well.

As part of a final project for one of his graphic design classes, Aaron had his students create mock-up sneakers based on existing silhouettes. Beyond just creating colorways for them, he also asked the class to come up with a fleshed-out story and inspiration for the pairs they created. Aaron had also set up a bracket-style tournament for his Instagram followers to vote and determine a winner amongst all the students.

I’m known on campus as a sneakerhead and wanted to incorporate that into graphic design for the class’ final assignment.

When we heard about this project, we knew we had to get the community involved. In addition to voting on Instagram, we tapped the wider SoleSavy community to vote within our platform as well. “It was great to show the kids how many people were voting on their designs,” Roth said.

One of the best parts was the feedback I was getting from SoleSavy and Instagram. We had a ton of votes come in each day, with some days reaching over 500 votes. I even had people reach out from shoe companies letting me know.

It was fun sharing that with my students and showing how their work, even at a beginner stage, is being appreciated at a bigger scale. Letting them know that people were appreciating their work was easily the raddest part of the whole process for me.

It doesn’t get much better than that. While sneakers are the driving force for most of what we do, the connections that are made along the ones we will always look back on.

And of course, pizza.

Sole Savy is unreal! With a busy schedule it’s hard to keep up on shoes, and the group keeps me up to date on releases, tips on how to manually cop, and a marketplace with killer deals from fellow like minded collectors. It’s changed the sneaker game for me!

@SoleSavy is the truth. They've helped me cop kicks I never would've imagined getting at retail. Members always willing to assist on drops too. And most of all, a REAL community of REAL sneakerheads. These guys should be the gold standard for sneaker communities! #LifetimeMember

My membership paid for itself three fold by being solely responsible for my union 4’s, mesh sacai waffles, sacai blazers, court purple aj1s, glow in the dark yeezy 350s, travis scott lows (which I traded to get desert ore ow’s), air max 1 londons, bc3’s for way under retail etc.

Can't say enough about SS. The stellar help with copping shoes is a given but it's the community that makes it extra special. Hands down one of the best decisions I made as a wannabe sneakerhead.

The community of sneakerheads and resources available to help manually cop are great and really will help you get more Ws. The Zoom calls for hyped drops like Union Jordan 4 only adds to the camaraderie while providing real time instruction
