It has been a year since we lost the influential artist and maker Virgil Abloh, and to celebrate his memory, his wife, Shannon Abloh, sat down with The New York Times. The article discusses her journey over the year and how she took over the reins of Virgil’s business. Last May, she created Virgil Abloh Securities, which united his various creative ventures, including Alaska Alaska, a creative studio in London, and his joint venture with Nike called Architecture, of which she is the Chief Executive.
Just this week, she announced the Virgil Abloh: The Codes Architecture Series in Miami, Florida, a four-day experience all about Virgil’s design principles. The legacy of the icon will go on long into the future, with John Hoke, the chief creative officer of Nike, stating that there is at least a year’s worth of Off-White x Nike products in the pipeline, including the Off-White x Nike Air Terra Forma, which is set to debut at the Art Basel event this December, and that even more designs are being planned with Architecture at this moment.
Shannon stated that there were “hundreds of projects that he worked on and never put” that she wants to bring to life in his honor. In the interview, she even brought out a pair of the prototype Off-White x Air Jordan 4 “Bred” that were never released.
