2023 marks twenty years in the NBA for LeBron James. After joining the league straight from St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, LeBron signed a massive 7-year deal with Nike and started his career in a signature shoe, the Nike Air Zoom Generation 1.
In those 20 years since, LeBron has changed the game bringing home 4 MVPs, 4 Championships, 4 Finals MVPs, and 18 All-Star selections in that span. While LeBron has Father Time firmly in a stranglehold and is well on the way to becoming the NBA’s all-time scoring leader, it never hurts to take a look back at his illustrious career.
That is why Nike is taking it back to where it all started with the Nike Air Zoom Generation “First Game,” inspired by the King’s first home game at the then-Gund Arena against Carmelo Anthony and the Denver Nuggets.
Last seen in 2013, the sneaker perfectly evokes the 2003 original with its white leather base and red mesh panels. Navy accents appear throughout the sneaker, including around the Swoosh and the iconic heel counter. Other details include the retro LeBron logo on the tongue and “11-5-2003” stitched in gold on the inside collar. A release date for the Nike Air Zoom Generation “First Game” has been set for March 21 via Nike and select retailers for $180.
