In the wake of LeBron James passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for all-time points, adidas is honoring Cap with the “Evolution of Excellence” Collection that celebrates his long career. Each sneaker in the three-piece collection represents a significant aspect of Kareem’s life and storied career.
The adidas Forum “Alpha” comes dressed in blue and gold suede as a nod to Kareem’s record-breaking time as a UCLA Bruin, with Kareem’s 33 embroidered on the lateral heel.
The adidas Forum “Accolades” come with a white leather base, purple accents on the three stripes and heel counter, and golden laces. The heel features a shuriken as an homage to his role in Bruce Lee’s “Game of Death” surrounded by his championship seasons 71, 80, 82, 85, 87, and 88.
The final pair the adidas Forum “Legacy,” which features a black and copper makeup, pays respect to Cap’s fight for racial equality and social justice. The upper is covered with renowned Kareem’s writings on social justice and completed with his 33 on the tongue.
In honor of Kareem’s iconic jersey number only 33 pairs of each colorway have been produced. The “Evolution of Excellence” Forum Collection will release on February 28th at select retailers and adidas.com.
The entire collection will be on display in Kareem’s size 16 in Crypto Arena for every home game during the month of February and raffled off for charity at the end of the month.
