Astonishingly, hip-hop has now been around for a half-century. The genre is recognized as beginning in 1973 in the Bronx, and there are no shortage of celebrations this year to commemorate 50 years of the culture. Of course, the observance of such a landmark requires kicks, and Nike will honor the occasion with the Air Force 1 High.
A black, grey, and white pair takes clear inspiration from the streets with speckled panels that can be interpreted as either concrete or spray paint. Black tumbled leather makes up the base, with the eyelets, tongue, laces, strap, and outsole all appearing in the same color. A cream midsole breaks up the color scheme, and the Swoosh appears in a smooth white leather. You’ll also find a special patch on the tongue celebrating hip-hop, although, for now, we don’t have a clear image of it beneath the strap.
Release details are yet to be confirmed, but expect the Air Force 1 “Classics” to be released in the coming months for $130. Download the DROPS by SoleSavy app to stay tuned as we learn more about this sneaker and more.
